Jephree thanks again so much for trying to help me resolve the problem. But I only have a wrking laptop, not desktop, the desktop is the one that isn't wrking. Even thought tht sounds greek to me what all you told me to do, I would be willing to try those methods, but with no wrking desktop and there isn't one nearby so I guess I have to do the create a partition thing again and reinstall it all. I do wish I could do something where I wouldn't have to lose all my files, etc, but looks like I may have no other choice. Thanks again for your help, really appreciate it,wka233

At some point it boils down to the question: what is that data worth to you?
You could take this to a shop and have the data retrieved. This would probably be the most expensive option.
For less money you could buy a new hard drive; install it on your desktop and then install 2K as brand new.
You can then slave your old hard drive (with your data) to the new drive as I mentioned in the previous process.
If you choose to do so we can help you through the details. Beyond the semantics the mechanics are quite simple.
