Windows 2000 SP4. Hard drive went bad. Re-installed Win2K from the same CD as before onto a new hard drive, updated to SP-4. Installed .NET 2.0. Updated all critical updates. System was identical to previous install with the exception of a new hard drive.

Here's my problem.

Programs now open a new instance every time I double-click on a file. They used to open the new file in the same instance of the program. For example, when I double-click on an image file, my image editor opens the file. Previously, double-clicking on another image file would switch to the opened instance of my editor and open a new image in there. Now, it opens a new instance of the program, then opens the new image in there instead. It's not just my image editor. Every program is doing it. I've tried changing things in the folder options tab, but nothing changes. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
