I have a PC Tel Modem in my machine and am trying to install the driver. I downloaded the drivers to my computer. There are several files. When the machine detects the modem, I will choose (specify file) and direct things to the driver file that I downloaded but, it only shows one INF file and the rest are not there. I looked at the bottom to choose all files, but it's not highlited and there is no access. I tryed going to the top tool bar and and clicked (show all files) etc but when I repeat the process, the same thing happens. My question is, how do I get access to all of the files that I downloaded so I can get my modem working?

I forgot to add this: The operating system is Windows 2000 PRO.

First thing I would do is go to the modem manufacturer's website and download the latest (I know you have a disk) drivers which would be the best.

Go in to the Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and then when you find the modem area click the + and open that area. Delete or uninstall everything under that area. Shut down.


Next make sure the optimum port setting is available, so remove the modem physically and put the modem in PCI #3 (third slot down from the AGP card). When you get this done, then make sure your BIOS setup menu has the PnP set to ENABLED.

When it boot back up, it will find the modem and load the Windows drivers (which are only v.90 compliant and not v.92 compliant) that are not very good to be honest.

When that is done, then go again to device manager and right click on the modem......select update drivers.....do not let it search for the best drivers (it would say the windows drivers) but point it to where the drivers you have are. Now, it will say that the drivers are no digitally signed, but pay no attention to that, load them anyhow. (that is about a money issue between the modem company and microsoft)

Shut down and away you should go.....well, maybe. Let us know how it goes.

This is a Latitude Laptop and there is no PNP setting in bios
