    Disabling the computer clock

Hello folks, i'm new here and i have a question already!

Is it possible to disable my P.C clock? Preferabally so it shows the time of 00:00:00 all the time.

    Thanks for any help.

    Dave

    Hi, Welcome to D-A-L

Not that I am aware of, what do you need to do that for? There may be another solution.

Thanks for the welcoming. I was writing a program that randomly generates numbers (RNG) and most RNG's will use the computer clock to perform a series of calculations to achieve the end result. If the clock reads 00:00:00, there would be only so many calculations it could make.

    Cheers,

    Dave.

why not try replacing your CMOS battery with a dead one ? or removing it altogether ? I think that would stop your clock forever ! The only problem you'll face will be the error message at the boot up... but pressing F1 key would make your system run. is it fine ? try it and let's know

I removed the battery but the clock kept on going. I am assuming there is only 1 battery inside the computer and i haven't removed the wrong one.

    Cheers,

Yes, there's normally only one internal battery. The battery is only used to keep track of the time and critical BIOS configuration information when the mains power is off. As soon as you switched the power on through the mains, it re-initialised the clock at the manufacturer's default date and time and then started counting again. You might have noticed that the date was a few years ago?
