    So, you've tried:
    1. From the Start button, click Settings> Control Panel
    2. In the Control Panel, open the "Java Plug-in Control Panel"
    3. Select the Cache Tab
    4. Click the Clear button inside the Cache Tab, which will clear your JRE cache directory.

    And it didn't work.
Now i want you to search for c:\windows\.jpi_cache\jar delete everything in there.

If none of the above work, you can try uninstalling your Java. You will need to go to Add/Remove programs and delete your Java.
Then download and install Sun Java.

    Other things worth trying:
Run check disk and select to delete the temp files.
    Alternatively you can use CCleaner

[EDIT] I forgot to mention to turn off system restore! Trojans can take up residence in your restore points, where they will be immune from removal. If you remove the restore points, you remove the trojans.
Simply turn system restore off, reboot and turn system restore back on again.

I don't think anyone can answer that truthfully. There are many programs out there simply creates random temp files. It is either not important, or it is a virus. You was also unable to delete it in Safe Mode? And be sure to answer my latest PM

    Hello again

It seems to be possible to get msconfig on W2k. Just read this article.
    http://www.techadvice.com/win2000/m/msconfig_w2k.htm

For to preventing spyware and other malware. I wrote a tutorial on it awhile back here.
