need help getting windows media player to play music downloads, can play through reg. computer cd, but cannot hear sound when media player tries to play music...PLEASE HELP

Use GSpot to analyze the codec. Do you have that codec installed? And what codec is it?

If i'm not mistaken, the standard k-lite codec pack has all the codecs you will need.

Totally messed up computer, lost all sound and can't change display settings.

What make and model is your comuter, what OS, need more info, if your not sure get Belarc http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
copy and paste the report, but not the software license section.
