I put your question in a thread of it's own alstonages. It'll get more attention then

Welcome to the forum alstonages7 =D>

    Now as for your problem....
Has this problem only just started?. Have you installed any new software recently. Have you tried anything yet to try and solve your problem?.
Also...Have you run antivirus and spyware scans?

A lot of questions i know, but the more info you can give us, the better we can help

I'm going to have to admit that i don't know as much about Windows 98 as i would like alstonages7 . If i go wrong somewhere i hope someone will jump in to put me right .

It may be worth making a backup of any programs you defiantly do not want to loose!.

    Here's what i would do:

Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'. Now select 'Hardware' and then select 'Device Manager'.
Can you see any error signs at the side of anything?.
If not, go down the list and find your sound drivers. Right click and select 'Update Driver'.
    Has this solved your problem?.

Have a look at this, if you think you have messed up your system and have a Win 98se disk doing this will check your system files.http://www.support.microsoft.com/def...b;en-us;185836
    It's a Microsoft KB article
Also get Belarc Advisor (free program) download and run this will give you information on what is installed on your comp, all hardware and programes we can then look for an update to your sound card driver.
