My brother is running Windows 98. Ever since he reinstalled the OS, he cannot get his camera to work. Sony Mavica CD1000. I just came across this application from Microsoft and I'm wondering if it would help to install the camera again.

I've never seen this Windows Installer 2.0 and would like to know if this would be a good thing for him to install on his computer?

Yes, he has the software. After installing it, the camera still doesn't work. I've gone to the Sony site and had him download drivers and still nothing. Actually, it's been about 6 months since we've tried to make the camera work. I would like to fix it though... once and for all.

As I recall...he said he always did have some sort of conflict. The camera would not work while the printer was on. But, when we looked in Device Manager, it did not show any problem.

I seem to recall a way back that I had to download an installer when going to the win update site. Hope this helps. :mrgreen:

Very good information. Thank you, Tuatha! I've already checked with him and his search (find) showed that he does not have the installer on his computer. I'll let you know how this goes. :-)

Actually, I had planned to go over and work on it for him the very next day, but he got busy and canceled. I sent all the info and links over to him...so we will just have wait for a day when we can do it.

So...no progress yet!
