Windows 98 Troubleshooter won't work. When I click on a problem and select "Next" the screen goes blank. I tried extracting Windows.chm and Windows.hlp from my Windows 98SE disk and moving them to the C:\WINDOWS\HELP folder but this made no difference. Any suggestions?

It seems one of the critical windows updates caused it and they released another patch which may or may not fix it. http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/d...30/default.asp
You can use online troubleshooters if this doesn't work.

Snap! Having same problem.

I’ve done system file checker, ran maintenance wizard and reloaded Windows 98(SE) several times but the troubleshooter text in the right frame didn’t appear. Eventually, I formatted the hard drive and reloaded Windows 98, and then the troubleshooter text reappeared. After a few days it’s disappeared again!
