thanks, where do i put it on the pc?
You haven't stated if it is a lapyop or desktop computer. Or what the model number is. So there is no way for me to tell you anything about "where do I put it" I just posted that card to show it is piossible to run wireless on a old Windows 98 Laptop, which for the life of me I don't know if you have such a laptop. This has been guess work since your original post and you have been very sparse with giving out any info as to
What is the exact make and model of your computer
What exactly kind of wireless setup do you have
So I can't tell you "where to put it"
AVG will not update on Windows 98 - can you help?

I prefer Avast to AVG and other free AV's and I am pretty sure it still runs on '98:
FREE antivirus software with spyware protection: avast! Home Edition
In addition AVG is no longer be providing definition updates to version 7.5.AVG 8.5 - Legacy OS support
Please be informed that older versions of Windows operating systems (Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows Me) are no longer supported. It is possible to install AVG 8.5 on the following OS's (and Service Packs):
* Windows® 2000 Professional SP4 + SRP1 (Service Pack download)
* Windows® 2000 Server SP4 + SRP1 (Service Pack download)
* Windows® XP Home SP2 (Service Pack download)
* Windows® XP Professional SP2 (Service Pack download)
* Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition
* Windows® 2003 Server SP1 or higher (Service Pack download)
* Windows® Vista Home Basic
* Windows® Vista Home Premium
* Windows® Vista Ultimate
* Windows® Vista Business
* Windows® Vista Enterprise
* Windows® 2008 Server
* Windows® 2008 Server x64 Edition
For more details, please check the web page of the appropriate AVG product in the System requirements tab (for example AVG Internet Security).
Why do not we support older operating systems with AVG 8.5?
Unfortunately the new scanning engine and on-access scanner, as well as the whole AVG technology cannot work on the old systems. These systems do not provide features and functionality that are necessary for proper detection and especially removal of malware. The systems are insecure and have not been maintained by the OS vendor for several years already. Therefore we cannot guarantee sufficient protection.
Solution
We suggest that you upgrade your OS and/or install the latest Service Pack to be able to use all the AVG features. We also recommend that you use WindowsUpdate to keep your operating system up-to-date.
End of support for AVG 7.5
We would like to inform you that support of all AVG 7.5 products was discontinued on April 30th, 2009. This applies to both virus and program updates, and also to the technical support.
AVG 7.5 is still working, however no new updates are being downloaded. When the AVG virus database is outdated we cannot ensure that AVG 7.5 will protect your computer against the newest threats.
If you are still running an AVG 7.5 version, we strongly advise you to upgrade to AVG 8.5 as soon as possible. The upgrade to AVG 8.5 is available free of charge.
