    Cool.

Load what drivers you can especially LAN to get online.

    Then load SP2.

Many drivers especially graphics are dependent on SP2.

Let us know how it goes.

The last Service Pack for XP was SP3 so you are probably seeing all the updates that eventually were incorporated into SP3.

If you can post the basic contents of that DVD we can try to see what is not necessary.

Thanks for the update and the thanks!

I'll compare it to a Microsoft CD and get back to you.

First glance would suggest all that Bonus stuff is Dell software and not XP.

My old original XP CD pre SP1

    My slipstreamed XP CD SP2

    Your DVD

    -----------------------

First off that DVD was meant for laptops and most of what you see are drivers.

GoTouch/NoTouch > Touch Pad | UwakeOff/UwakeOn > power options | USB > drivers | Bonus > Dell software (bloatware) | Emerald is a Dell theme for the GUI.

It is hard to see where they put the XP files. Perhaps under the Gear (Configuration Settings) named Dell and also Paths and perhaps ReBootMe. If that were the case then everything else is unnecessary assuming it will install on a desktop at all.

You could see if removing "Bonus" brings you down to a CD size. Yet again I am unsure if this would even install on a desktop.

    jephree,
I tryed taking out the bonus,The CD won't hold but just a little! The DVD is 2.67
I will get a DVD burner before long and then I can do something! What is the different in a
Laptop DVD and desktop as far as installing?

I don't know for sure. Give it a try.

Dell makes their own install media having paid Microsoft for the source code of an Operating System and as such you have a Dell install disk and not a Microsoft install disk.

Quite often specific OEM (Dell in this case) disks are tied to particular models.

I just assume seeing all those laptop drivers that this disk might be laptop specific but perhaps I am mistaken.

Anyway try it and see but I wouldn't be surprised if it does not work.
