I just got an old computer for my son.It runs on windows 98 second edition. It worked perfectly for the past few months but today when i booted the sound wasn't working anymore.I checked the control panel and in the hardware section i got the same error for the sound card usb and controller driver. It says the NTKERN.VXD and MMDEVLDR.VXD loaders were unable to load the drivers.I tried to reinstal the drivers with the disk i got with the computer but it doesn't work. What do i do?

Try this driver. Run the setup, use default settings, and press OK.
I have uploaded it, but if it doesn't download, you can get it direct.

Download, install, and run Everest Home Edition on this machine. (Clean FreeWare) Once it's finished loading and running, look under Multimedia, or, under Multimedia, PCI / PnP Audio. This will tell you what sound devices you have available on your system. Post that information.
Also look under MOTHERBOARD.
Post what is listed for your Motherboard (make/model) and the Chipset description.
