My HDD is 8GB, windows thinks 2.9GB

    Toshiba Satellite 110ct (very old).
I got a 8GB HDD after my 800MB HDD died. Installed Win 98, updated the bios to v5.2 and changed the file format to FAT32, but windows still thinks the drive is 2.9GB. Is there anything I can do or is it a motherboard limitation ?
    Thanks..

Could be a motherboard limitation but I thought the old 'INT13' problem didn't kick in until 8.4Gb. Would be best to check your system documentation to see what it will support.
I would think it's more likely that the BIOS has picked up the wrong configuration settings for the disk. There's a link in my signature to my guides on auto-detecting or manually setting up drives in the BIOS
