    Outlook Express

    Hi

    I have a 12 year old Vaio whose operating platform I have just upgraded from W98 to ME. However in the process, it will not now allow me to access Outlook Express. I have about 2500 emails on the laptop which I do not want to lose. Can someone please help me to restore Outlook Express and hopefully access all the emails saved on it. Many thanks. Steven (UK)

    Hello, and Welcome to D-A-L.

    I've never run ME, and only worked with it once or twice but, if I recall correctly, the file structure is similar to Windows 2000 and XP,,,,,

    I have to get to work but as a first measure, locate your OE *.DBX files and COPY them to another safe location. Burn them to a CD if possible. If not, create a new folder and drop them there.

    You should find your *.DBX files here;

    C:\Documents and Settings\%_%_Users_name_%_%\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{445BA***************************} \Microsoft\Outlook Express (*user*.dbx files if using MS Outlook Express)

    Someone will be along to help further. Sorry I can't stick around.

    Many thanks. Loaded all the .dbx files into OE6 and it's now working perfectly.
    Really grateful to you. Best regards, Steven
