    Driver_unloaded_without_cancelling_pending_operati ons

    When I try to install Windows 2000 on my ThinkPad 600E computer (256MB, 400 MHz processor, 10GB hard drive), I get an error. It boots from the cd fine, and starts to load the files for the various devices. Then, right before I would select to install a fresh copy of windows, or repair or exit, I get the following error:

    DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATI ONS
    the file referenced with this is partmgr.sys.

    It has happened every time I try to install windows. Any help would be great. Thanks!

    I did an advanced search of the MSKB and came up with three articles, however they relate to XP. (The partmgr.sys element appears to be the partition manager for the install.)

    http://support.microsoft.com/search/...3&mode=a&adv=1

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927547/en-us

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310899/en-us

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301515/en-us

    Is there an ATI Technologies or a 3dfx Voodoo 3500 device in this laptop?

    Here's a link from the Lenovo site re; installing 2000 on that machine;

    See if any of this helps, and post back with results or further questions.

    No, there is not an ATI Voodoo device or anything of the sort. I will read the articles and try the solutions later tonight, and let you know the results. Thanks!

    The Lenovo link will probably be your best bet. It covers BIOS updates, CD/DVD firmware updates, video features, etc.

    The articles and site at Lenovo did not help. I attempted to blow away my bios and load the one listed on the site, but was unable to do so. Here's how I got around it though:

    The machine I was attempting to do the install on is a laptop. I have an adapter to take a laptop hard drive, and hook it up to a regular IDE cable in a desktop machine. I loaded it there, deleted the current partition, and reformatted it from the desktop. After that, I was able to place the newly wiped hard drive back into the laptop, and windows installed fine on it.
