i have connected two machine thro' crossover cable,one machine having operating system 98 and other machine having operating system xp,machine having operating system 98 can ping own ip address and standered ip address 127.0.0.1 but the other machine having operating system xp not ping itself but ping standered ip address 127.0.0.1.
can i help?

Have you tried temporarily disabling your firewall?

Okay - be sure to re-enable your firewalls. Is the XP machine able to access the Internet?
