Display Settings Problem - SOLVED
Hi Guys..
.. P2 Running Win98
.. Screen: 17 " Fijitsu Siemens Sceinicview 772-1
..onboard display Adapter: ATI Rage 128 vr
Problem: Cant adjust colour and display setting.
My machine is stuck on 16 colours. when I change it it asks me to restart. When I do its back on 16 colours.
Also when I try and change the colour scheme, to Windows Standard
or any other setting the computer("Display Properties has stoped Responding") Freezes and when i reboot Im still stuck on the old setting.
Dont know what caused this problem...
.. I.ve tried the following:
..Replacing the actual monitor and Changing Monitor in Display properties
..Removing & Reinstalling the display adapter in >MyComputer>Properties>DeviceManager>
nothing works... please help?

You need to reinstall the drivers for the particular adapter in use.
Try this one:
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/9...gacy-98me.html
The very top "bundle" (27+ MB).

Download, install, and run Everest Home Edition on this machine. (Clean FreeWare) Once it's finished loading and running, look under
(Display)
Computer, Summary, Display, or under Display, PCI/AGP Video. This will tell you what display adapter/chip you have. Post that information. (Video Adapter and 3D Accelerator.)
