    If there is a specific error message and if you can post it word for word exactly as it appears we might be able to trace down the problem concerning that error.

    Otherwise new laptops are vastly superior and cheaper than trying to replace parts on old ones.

    well any way I took out that hd and put it in my computer and it worked and for buying a laptop I have no money he does't ethere that is y i was going to give it to him

    If you wrote in proper English and used a spell checker it would probably result in more people reading your posts.

    You never answered the last question I asked which was what is the exact error you get when you try to use the floppy drive?

    in dos it says floppy error(20) or if i hook it up backwerds (40) and i spell bad because I'm 15yo

    Here is a great Spell checker add on for IE: http://www.iespell.com/

    Error 20 is a controller error

    Error 40 is a connection or drive error

    You can try a new cable and or try a new floppy drive.

    If neither of the above work then the motherboard would probably need to be replaced.
