Windows is being mean lol
k my dad runs a windows 98 se system and when he was on today the computer apperently "crashed" as he put it and then when he had started it up it was in safe mode but thats not the problem though the problem is that the computer is no loner running in safe mode but IS in fact running on what says is 16-bit color (even though the wallpaper is just got a lil bit of red on it) and the screen is tiny and when we try to change the color back to 256-bit it says it has been changed and we need to restart but when we do restart the computer we check the settings and it says that it is still in 16-bit
If u kan help plzzzz do so he will stop bugging me i'm getting tired of pretending to know what i'm doing lol
FYI: i dont know if it is something major or not but he was doing a virus scan at the time of the computer crash

Hello, and Welcome to D-A-L.
The drivers for the display adapter have to be reinstalled. Some drivers are installed using the motherboard drivers if they are "on-board" devices.
Desktop System:
If the display adapter is a PCI/AGP card in a slot there may be a CD which came with it for this purpose.
Laptop System:
These usually have one or two CD's which came with the system that have the sound, video, modem, LAN, etc drivers on them.
If you don't know what device you have for the display, download, install, and run Everest Home Edition on this machine. (Clean FreeWare) Once it's finished loading and running, look under
(Display)
Computer, Summary, Display, or under Display, PCI/AGP Video. This will tell you what display adapter/chip you have. Post that information. (Video Adapter and 3D Accelerator.)
(Sound, if required as well)
Multimedia, or, under Multimedia, PCI / PnP Audio. This will tell you what sound devices you have available on your system. Post that information.
