windows 98 files missing, dont have disk
i recently bought a computer used, and came to find that my cable internet could not be installed because of files missing.the cable guy told me that they are called cab files, and that i need a windows 98 disk.i dont have one,but i did have the restore disk and i thought that would work, but it seems the disk doesnt work properly.my question is this...are there any other ways of restoring these missing files? i dont know anyone that has a windows 98 disk that i could use to get these files,so im renting a computer tower in the mean time until i can find a way to fix the one i bought.

Hi and welcome to D-A-L
windows 98 is an old operating system, you may find a disc on sites like ebay.
what make and model is the machine?

Look to see if you have C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS or a C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CAB(s) sub-directory (folder) on your drive. If so it will contain the "WIN98_xx.CAB" and the other necessary files. If so, when it asks for the 98CD, "point" it to that directory which contains the cab files.
