Printer causes computer to reboot
My computer reboots when I hit the print button or when I hit the reset button on the front of the printer. It does not do this every time but it happens quite often. I have changed printers and it does it with the new printer I have installed as well. I don't know what to do. I have used this printer for 18 months without incident until just recently. I have tried uninstalling the printer and reinstalling them but that has not helped. Can you help me?

Hiya,
What make and model is your printer and does it connect to your computer via USB or Parallel Port?

The printer is a Brother HL-1240 and a Brother HL-1440. Both have been used and cause computer to reboot. When it first happened the 1440 was connected via a regular printer cable. I deleted all the drivers and files for the printer and reinstalled new drivers from brother website and hooked up the 1240 via a usb cable to a port on the front of the computer. It still causes the computer to reboot when you hit the print icon. Not every time though. When it reboots the UPS beeps as if power was lost. Then the computer is slow to reboot and outlook is unable to open when you click on the icon. I then go to the start menu and shut down the computer and restart it. When I do this the task menu comes up and says: WMS Idle is not reponding and do I want to end the task. I don't know if this is helpful or not but this is what happens.
