    Hi

Is there a double arrow pointed downwards in Programs that you can click?

Did you run any reg cleaners or similar software lately?

If you want to access the defrag etc there are other ways.

To check up where they are, do a search in Explorer for their file names. Note down where they show up. They are system files/folders which actually can't be deleted. They will keep reappearing, but its possible remove them from the start menu. However not so unless you did so yourself or through another supposedly "cleaning" software, an infection or a corrupt OS.

It really has been long since I touched Win98 so I'm very unfamiliar with it now, hence I'm trying to be reserved and concise.
