error message
Hi - I really hope you can help. I've done something very very wrong to my old PC.
I recently purchased a new PC and decided to clean up my old one (ME system) and give it away. I deleted loads of stuff from and think I may have got a little carried away because now, whenever I try to start it up I get this message on a blue screen:
'The Microsoft installable file system manager cannot find the helper driver. Please ensure that the IFSHLP.SYS has been installed.
System halted.'
I am totally stuck on this screen. I've tried re-starting it over and over again but nothing happens. It won't even start in safe mode.
To make matters worse, I can't download anything onto floppies to re-boot it because my new PC (the only other PC I have access to in order to download) doesn't have a floppy drive.
Could you help at all? And please spare the complicated computer jargon - i'm blonde when it comes to technology. (obviousley - note above!!)
Thanks Guys
Ali

Thankyou so much for that useful link. I hate to be a pain but apparently I need the Windows Millenium Edition Startup Disk. I can't find it anywhere. I recently moved house so it must have got lost in the move. Do you know where I can purchase another one?
Thanks again
Ali

Yes I have disks. The ME computer takes both CD and floppy. However, if I need to download or save anything, my new PC only accepts CDs. That's another problem, it seems the only recovery available is by floppy which my new PC cannot save to.
