Newbie here, first post etc etc.

I've inherited a machine running Windows 98SE, no drivers sadly. Managed to set it up so that everything works except sound. It has onboard sound, which is enabled in the BIOS.

It's an AMD 756 chipset, but I can't find any drivers on their website specifically for the sound/multimedia functions.

Also - if you could suggest how to get it to boot into safe mode - at present I have to kill the power during the bootup process in order to get the option of safe mode next time I boot.

Device manager reports a PCI multimedia device and a PCI communications device both with drivers not installed (code 28).

Hi all -

Glad to say I've managed to solve it.

I read in other posts your advice about using Everest, discovered who made the motherboard, and found some drivers there.

But this is a great site, thanks for all the hard work - I'll probably be back!
