master boot record problem

Re: master boot record problem
OK, boot with the 98SE bootdisk again and when you get the A:\> prompt, type in sys a:\ c: and hit Enter. You should see "System transferred". Remove the floppy and try a normal boot.

What bootdisk are you using? The one I offered in post #2?
Try just sys c:. Same results?

yes i am using the one you offered in post #2
No luck I still get
Invalid function
I still am getting a no vaild fat or fat 32 partition when I boot up with the floppy disk. Don't know if that is important or not.
everyone told me to use fdisk /mbr and I did but did not get any response on the screen, and everyone said that is normal and it is probably fixed....

I apologize for the delay. Boot with the bootdisk and when you get the A:\> prompt, type in dir/a/o c: and hit Enter.
If you get a listing for c: which is labeled MSRAMDRIVE the hard disk isn't being recognized in the machines bios.
If you get a listing for c: which isn't labeled MSRAMDRIVE, hit Enter until you return to the C:\> prompt. Put a blank formatted floppy in the A:\ drive and then type in dir/a/o> a:\cdirlist.txt. Bring this floppy to the machine you're posting on and copy the contents of this text file and paste it into your next post.
