    Trouble viewing PDF content online

For a while now I've not been able to view PDF files online, for example where a website might have user manuals or information in PDF.

In IE I would normally right click and save this information for later viewing in Acrobat (a bit of a pain, but at least a way around the problem). However, this option is no longer available to me and IE just throws a wobbly and shuts down.

My preferred browser is Firefox and it will take me to the PDF information, but nothing is displayed on my screen.

This is getting really annoying now as lots of things are in PDF format, including the user manual for my new iPod, which I can neither view nor download

Can anyone help me resolve this please?

Cheers, in advance, for any pointers.

Have you tried reinstalling the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader? During the install, a BHO (Browser Helper Object) is also installed to IE (or any browser you're using). In IE, if you click on Tools, Manage Add-ons... you'll see it listed. If it's been disabled, click on it and choose Enable.

On the above page you can choose to download different versions for different O/S's. (I'd uncheck the box for the Yahoo Toolbar, unless you're into that kind of stuff.)

You might try working through these solutions from Adobe http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/328233.html

Guys THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I uninstalled Acrobat Reader and reinstalled and now everything works perfectly - in both Firefox (preferred browser) and IE - a true miracle!

I think my problem has been Spybot (sorry to bad mouth it, I really am) because I've updated programs as I've been told to and it's denied registry access and stuff - all stuff I don't understand and I reckon this could be where things have gone belly up.

In the meantime, I've worked out how to use my iPod, so the need for the user manual no longer exists but I can view PDFs online for the first time in months, again - thank you!

It doesn't take much to keep a girl happy.

My next problem is viewing movies without hanging the PC but that will be in a separate posting.

    Cheers
