Clock Problem

Clock Problem
My computer clock has suddenly begun to lose time. It seems to be running
about 2 minutes per hour slow.
Can someone tell me what the problem might be and how to fix it??
Thanks......

In my experience, System clocks are just innacurate - although two minutes an hour is the worst I've heard of.
As the time is set from hardware, I guess the best thing to do is to sync the time with an internet time server. - if you dbl click the clock in the tray and then select the 'internet time' tab then set that as something like:
time.nist.gov or
time.windows.com.
If you are online enough that should keep it in check. It's a bit of a hack but I guess if it works...

Hi Brian, good to see you here
Also..on the case of this clock problem...try replacing your motherboard battery it may be weak and is needed to preserve the PC's time.

My thoughts exactly. Synchronising your Windows clock with an Internet time server will make up for the inaccuries of your BIOS (system) clock ... but it won't stop the BIOS clock being wrong.
As D-A-L says, it looks like it could be time to change the motherboard battery. These are usually CR2032 coin-type batteries and are readily available from various electrical shops like Dixons for a couple of pounds. Normally very easy to change as well.
Failure to change a dying battery could result in the BIOS not being able to remember critical hardware settings like your hard disk configuration when you switch the mains power off.

i have a problem with the time changing while i'm using the computer? is that the battery too? or is the battery only for when the computer is off?
