I first installed Win98 on 'C' drive and then installed XP on 'D' drive. I got the two os listed while booting.
Yesterday, i formatted the 'c' drive and again installed Win98 on it. Now i dont get the option of choosing the operating system. The system simply starts in Win98 although i have XP installed too.
I had saved the boot.ini file before formatting and again pasted it back on 'C' drive after installing Win98. But still i dont get to choose XP.
Which file should i have saved so that i could have got back the page showing the two operating system listed. I just cant start XP now.
With the C: drive formatted, you've lost the ntldr and ntdetect.com files (along with the boot.ini) which reside in the root directory of C:.
I've never tried this, and it's doubtful it will work, but I've attached these two files (from my XP Home) to the post. Unzip them to C:\ and try a boot. If it doesn't work you can always just delete them and then do a repair install of XP.
Ok.Thanks a lot Dan. I will try it out today. Just give some time to reply back as i need to go back to my system. Actually i am posting this message from a cyber cafe so cant just give results immediately.
