how can i tell if static shock killed my pc?
a couple of days ago i installed an extra usb card to my computer, ever since it hasnt been running quite right, i have installed the driver and stuff like that but it still freezes occasionally and wont shut down or start up properly. this does not happen all the time but it happens, i think it may be my webcam because it seems to happen after i start using that, any advice would be much appreciated

A static discharge most likely would result in absolutley nothing happening.
I would test your issues by removing the USB PCI card & CAM just to see if things go back to the way they were.
Were you plugging the Cam into the USB PCI card?

no my cam is plugged into my original/first usb driver card

I would still test the removal of all new hardware just to see if things go back to the way they were.

A good general scan is Belarc: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
A good detail for CPU - RAM - MOBO: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
RAM specifics under SPD.
Also Crucial has a good RAM scan: http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/
And thanks for the thanks!
