    Hello, and Welcome to D-A-L.

From your description (5 years since operated); If power is applied (and known to be "good" (proper voltage/wattage/amperage)) and there is no reponse, it's a possibility that there is oxidation on component/cable contacts in the unit.

If you're not adverse to opening the unit (obviously out of warrenty) then disconnect/reconnect the various componts/cables etc a couple of times to "clean" the contacts. After that if there's still no response, check for bad/broken connections.

Hi! I opened the laptop, etc etc, and it was not working yet... All of a sudden my husband said: is there a fuse in the plug ? (here in the uk we use fuses in the plugs for the electricity)... And there was no fuse! Lol. Put a new fuse, and it was working properly... Only these funny lines on the screen.. vertical lines all over. any suggestion? sorry for the pain, thank you

With NO power applied, check the video connections. It may be a cable connector which isn't fully secure.

It's also possible there is a defect in the LCD screen:
