disc format ??

    disc format ??

    I am having trouble trying to install win98se onto an old pc of mine, pc previously ran win2000 (no good for home use). hard drive was formatted but when i try to install win98se i get a message "not enough memory" could this be something to do with the file system previously used on win2000? is there a fix....please help

    once the drive is formatted, i doubt hard-drive memory could be the problem if it previously ran windows2000. The fact that it is an old pc makes me think maybe RAM memory could be faulty. Try different RAM Memory and see how you go. When does the error exactly appear?

    thanks for the reply, think i may be onto a solution now tho........the disk had an NTFS partition which i have now removed using fdisk...now formatting again to see if it will install..........hopefully it will solve the problem

    Hello, and Welcome to D-A-L.

    You'll have to create a FAT32 Partition with FDISK to install 98.
