when i play music are anything on my computer it plays very fast?

does it sound like a squeaky voice and high-pitched drums? One (both is possible) of these could be the cause. Try play music with different software to quickly detect whether its case B. (e.g. try Windows Media Player and then Winamp)

A. If you own a EAX(tm) equipped soundcard, make sure you go into its options panel and check whether any effects are on (high-pitch, etc.).

B. Check if Windows Media Player has the Playing Speed Setting to 1.0.
To access it, go View >> Enhancements >> Playing Speed Settings. Check that the slider is adjusted to 1.0.

thanks for that but it still plays fast and coz i got windows 2000 i cant get media player 10 to try.

Go to start Run... & type: dxdiag

Open the Sound tab and adjust the Sound Acceleration Level

its not making any diffrence for some reason unless i have to restart my computer

make sure you have the newest/correct drivers i had the same problem when i had the wrong driver son my computer cuz i tried ot download them rather than install them from bundled driver disk
