    Unhappy lovely blue screen- HELP!!!!

My friend has just given me her computer to fix so she can retrieve her works files. I have looked all over the net to try to fix the blue screen but to no avail. She has a dell optiplex and the os is windows 2000 nt, the stop error is 0x0000007(0x81880030, 0x00000032, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) inaccessible_boot_device. Does anyone know what this code means? I cant even even boot in safe mode. What do I do next? Someone pleeeeeeease help. thanks.

    Hi and welcome to D-A-L

have you got a floppy disc in the drive.

have you tried getting into the BIOS..............I think it's F2.

there is no floppy in the drive and the only place i can access is bios and i have tweaked there and come up with nothing. I think there may be a boot sector virus. its a nightmare.

has you friend just installed win 2000?

is there more than one hard drive, if you're running a slave drive as well remove the slave.

what anti virus is being used? this may remove the virus

I think you may need the windows 2000 disc to repair the boot sector

she has no anti-virus on her computer, which is great. She has no windows disc, so i'm going to have to try with the boot disc.

can you remove the hard drive and slave it in another PC you may be able to get to the files then?
