    Unhappy "Error in loading DLL" all over the place

    I'm not sure when it started, but I have started seeing this message popping up in different places in different forms. I have seen it so far in:
    * My Network Places
    * Recycle Bin
    * Control Panel
    * Add/Remove Programs
    * Network and Dial-up Connections
    * Printers
    * Search Results
    * Excel 2003 (I have the rest of Office installed, but it doesn't come up there)

    The error message comes up as an Internet Explorer Script Error like this (apart from in Excel):
    An error has occurred in the script on this page.
    Line: 100
    Char: 17
    Error: Error in loading DLL
    Code: 0
    URL: file://C:\WINDOWS\Web\nethood.htt
    (This is the one from My Network Places; the Line, Char, and URL are different in each case)

    It makes no difference whether I click Yes or No, it will then not load properly, for example, the Recycle Bin doesn't get the title part down the left hand side, while in Add/Remove Programs, the list of programs installed doesn't appear.

    In Excel, I simply get an error titled "Microsoft Visual Basic", which says "Error in loading DLL", with the options being OK or Help. After clicking OK, Excel appears to work fine. In addition MSN Messenger and Search (when opened from the Start Menu) just don't appear when opened.

    So far, I have tried repairing Windows from the Windows 2000 disc, and re-installing Internet Explorer. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    I found the solution!!!! I was racking my brain on this but it happened to come easy to me. I had this same problem on a client's machine (Win2k) and I happened to look in the recycle bin (just before I was going to empty it) and I noticed a bunch of important exe files and other misc stuff that should be in the windows\system32 directory. I slowly restored files back to the system32 and re-enabled web view and I found that the missing mshtml.tlb file is the one responsible for this!
