    Missing SHLWAPI.DLL

    I keep getting an error when I boot up my computer.

    Error loading Explorer.exe
    You must reinstall Windows.

    I press ok and it says SHLWAPI.DLL was not found.

    I have have a copy of the boot disk but the instalation cd is long gone.

    My computer is a gateway with win98 se, and I had just replaced the original Nvidia Vanta graphics card with a Nvidia Geforce FX5500.

    I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it but shortly after, I restarted the computer and the error came up.

    I was able to fix it with gateway goback, but after I restarted the computer to change the color settings the problem returned and Gateway goback can't find a safe setting anymore.

    Hello, and Welcome to D-A-L.

    If you're ending up at a C:\> prompt, you can try your own windows restore;

    At C:\>, type in;

    windows\command\scanreg/restore

    and pick a date which preceeds all the problems. Post back with your results or further questions.

    It says its a bad command or file name.

    Also when I use the boot disk and got to run without cd-rom support it tells me that drive c does not contain a valid FAT or FAT32 partition.
