Dell Latitude C600 - Win 2000 Professional built on NT Technology - won't boot up.
I bought this laptop for $100 bucks. Too cheap, so I expected problems... And I was right.
I turn it on and after 2 quick dos pages flash by it goes into the splash page for windows. The status bar shoots to halfway. and freezes. It never finishes loading Windows 2000 Pro.......
I have went into F8 Setup, only for it to do the same thing in Safe mode.
I have went into the cmos but I do not have the Admin. Password.
I believe it is set to FDD>HDD>CDROM bootale disk seak order. But I am unable to change these features without the password.
I was with the person who sold me this laptop, the day he bought it new 6 years ago for his mother. She was the Admin, but she has since passed away. That is why he sold it to me, he knew it had problems, but he did not know what was wrong with it.
I know your next question would be:
Have you tried restarting it with a Windows EBD Floppy into Floppy Drive? No I have not, no floppy drive preset, only CD-Rom.
So I know my first step is to buy one from ebay asap. --- D-O-N-E--- ! ----
I started this thread for support if needed when it arrives. I have had a lot of bad luck with laptops. The best support I ever recieved was right here from this site
D-A-L by a Tech named Dan Penny I think...Thaks alot Dan
Right now I am just waiting for the package. I will keep you updated when it arrives.

Okay I got the floppy drive today. Popped out the cdrom, inserted the floppy, then put in a copy of 98se EBD (It's the only EBD I have) If you want to send me a link to get a new EBD Go For It...
Then I turned it on.. just as I suspected, it was set to FDD>HDD>CDROM, so it seeked my ebd instantly and went straight to my 123 options (With - Without cd suport & Help) I Chose with, but I have no cdrom inserted into it yet....Any way it does it's thing and loads my ramdrive to c:. Now I can't actually find the harddrive, the one I want to Format...It should have a win file/dir, but I only have 3 drives that are valid.....
A - Floppy (21 files / 0 Dir)
B - shows same dir as Floppy (21 Files / 0 Dir)
C - MS-Ramdrive (15 files / 0 Dir)
Where's my hardrive with win 2000 & so forth?
Which one do I reformat? A:\>reformat c: ABC....
When do I switch out my floppy for my cd-rom?
Or do I just copy my Win 98se EBD to my newly reformatted hard drive,
Then I shut down, swap out Floppy for CD-Rom & turn it back on right?
Then I run set up from cd-rom for my new windows. ?:\>setup
