I am sort of computer saavy, but not really. A friend asked if I could update her computer, Gateway Pentium III 450MHz with 64-MB memory to windows xp. I could not, since it did not have enough memory, so we went with Windows 2000 pro, total wipe of the Windows 98 hard drive. The computer was purchased in 1999.

Now the screen has shadows on them, and it looks terrible. Is there a fix, or must I buy a video card (and since I'm opening it up, adding some memory) the only solution? My friend says chuck it, but the computer is being used basically for internet and dvd viewing, so why buy a new system when you can fix this one....Can anyone help?

Did you load 2K drivers for the graphics device?
