Desktop Icon - Go direct to Site

    Hi

I used to just click on my Desktop Icons and go direct to the Sites

A couple of days back something changed. When I click on any Icon I get an Internet Explorer Bar that pops-up at top of my screen. This has the Site address on it. Now I need to double click on that address in the bar to go to the Site.

How can I change this and revert to my old set-up. Click on Icon and go to Site.

    Your help appreciated

    Thanks.

If you right-click the icon and choose 'Open', does it open the web site properly?

    No it does NOT.

Still get that IE address bar with the Site name

When the address bar first pops up, it shows you the complete URL then it changes and shows the name of the Site.

It is very annoying as for years I just went Icon to Site direct

    Thanks.

    Have you tried IE Repair?

Start, Run, msinfo32, Tools, Repair Internet Explorer. (I'm going by memory here as I don't have a 98SE machine set up as of yet.)

    Hello guys

    Problem now solved

It was a faulty mouse that was downsizing the webpage that I was trying to enter.

Instead of showing the full page it was only showing the address bar of this Site

I dragged & enlarged that addy bar to full screen and clicked on Enter.

    Now its all OK

    Thanks for your interest.

"It was a faulty mouse that was downsizing the webpage that I was trying to enter."

Interesting, I've never run across such as that.

Glad you got everything worked out.
