Hello everyone, today my brother recieve an message about the CPU temp. on the start up screen. He went into the setup (CMOS) and change the CPU setting for the temp. Now when i try to open the computer, it opens for 1 second than it shut downs before i can use my keyboard. CAN ANYONE give me some idea on what to do in this sitution. I got files it need to get back before school opens on tuesday. Thank YOu

You can try to clear your CMOS to reset it to default.

How you do this depends on the motherboard.

Basically you need to unplug and open the computer in order to remove the motherboard battery and reset the JBAT jumpers (if present).

The battery is a flat disk battery like a watch or camera battery. You may see a 3 pin jumper right next to it labeled JBAT. If so remove the battery and then move the jumper sleeve from 1&2 to 2&3.

Wait a few minutes then move the sleeve back to 1&2 and then replace the battery. Replug and Reboot. This will have cleared all motherboard settings. You will need to reset the time etc.
