Hi everyone,
Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for my problem.
I am using an old PC (close to 10 years) and yesterday, got the blue screen, crashed and when I restarted, the graphics/display are about 3x normal size.
Have attempted to download driver for the video card without success.
s3 inc ViRGE/DX/GX PCI
According to System properties, the device is working...
I am hoping I don't need a new video card because I have spent too much on this old machine (viruses etc) and am hoping to buy a new machine in the next couple of months but I need to sort this problem out now as uni assignments are pending!
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Many thanks,
Dee
Welcome to DAL. It sounds like your graphics card has defaulted to 640x480 resolution. Right click a blank area on the desktop, select properties/advanced and see where the slider is under resolution. Yo can resize it to 800x600 or 1024x768, whichever you are used to.

I have tried that several times without success.
Any other ideas?

If you're sure of the card make/model (S3 ViRGE/DX/GX PCI), I just downloaded the drivers the other day for someone. I'll attach them to this post.
Simply unzip the files to an empty directory. Open Device Manager, and keep clicking on the Display Adapter leg until you see the DRIVER tab. Choose Update Driver, and when you see Have Disk, click it and point the driver update to the directory where you have the unzipped files.
Post back with your results.

The problem has been fixed!
I'm not sure what did it but I followed your instructions for someone else's problem yesterday - something to do with the VGA in Run - msconfig??? (Please excuse my tech ignorance!)
I fiddled around with some Microsoft Updates and downloads and just decided to go in and uncheck the VGA whatsit and voila!
I can't believe it and I wish I knew what it was that fixed the problem but I'm sure your advice just saved me a small fortune.
I love this site.
Thank you!

You're welcome. Glad you got everything sorted out.
