    Desktop is not appearing

An error: "Inconsistency detected in the PCI bus driver's internal structures.

Disable BIOS memory option as caching or shadowing. Try remove or uninstall the hardware or software you newly installed."

This error is being displayed on screen of death (blue screen) before displaying desktop.

I tried to disable BIOS thru CMOS setup but it didn't work. Kindly tell me how to overcome this prob.

    View your Error Log via:

    [1] Start Menu
    [2] Help and Support
    [3] Pick a Task
    [4] Tools
    [5] Advanced System Information
    [6] View the Error Log

    Also:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft
    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz
    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.
    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

    Sorry for missing that.

Do you have your 2K disk?

Try booting into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key after your BIOS POST but before Windows starts.

You could try the Recovery Console but if that doesn't work then reinstalling is about your only other option.

To start the Recovery Console, start the computer from the Windows 2000
Setup CD or the Windows 2000 Setup floppy disks. If you do not have Setup
floppy disks and your computer cannot start from the Windows 2000 Setup CD,
use another Windows 2000-based computer to create the Setup floppy disks. At
the "Welcome to Setup" screen. Press F10 or R to repair a Windows 2000
installation, and then press C to use the Recovery Console. The Recovery
Console then prompts you for the administrator password. If you do not have
the correct password, Recovery Console does not allow access to the
computer. If an incorrect password is entered three times, the Recovery
Console quits and restarts the computer. Note If the registry is corrupted
or missing or no valid installations are found, the Recovery Console starts
in the root of the startup volume without requiring a password. You cannot
access any folders, but you can carry out commands such as chkdsk, fixboot,
and fixmbr for limited disk repairs. Once the password has been validated,
you have full access to the Recovery Console, but limited access to the hard
disk. You can only access the following folders on your computer: drive
    root, %systemroot% or %windir%
Although this regards XP the jist should be similar:

1 more thing I have to ask.....

Whenever I am on internet, several types of warning msgs display on the screen viz. Download software from fixwinreg.com or winreg.net (and many more) to prevent your registry from being crashed.

Are these msgs legal, should i download these winregcleaner s/w from these sites??

Am i running under some sort of threat??

Make sure you are running up to date Antivirus and Spyware programs..
I wouldn't download their registry cleaner..
Download a free pop up blocker..http://www.panicware.com
That should keep most if not all of them away..

These are bogus programs that are spamming you if not worse. You should be running a firewall to block such things.

You might want to run a HijackThis log by our Pros over in that section to see if anything has infested this computer:

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
    (Not in this section please).

Please specify what issues you appear to be experiencing along with your log.

This is another computer that you are referring to? Or did you get to boot?
