Ok...here goes !! I recently have had a lot of trouble with Yahoo messenger (freezing up) and I had resorted to uninstalling and reinstalling it ~~same as I have done in the past with no problems~~ Until now. The new version with voice always seems to give my computer a hard time. I uninstalled it and went to reinstall it and all went fine until it was almost complete. Then I received an error message stating that the d/l could not be completed due to missing PCRE.DLL file. I have never seen this error or type of file name before and I have used messenger for almost 6 years....Anyhow, I am assuming that it may have something to do with the newer voice version... ??!?? I attempted to correct this myself and still have not been able to find a viable solution. Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated TYTYTYTYVM

You can download pcre.dll from here for free http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?pcre I searched my comp running XP and it lives in C/program files/yahoo messenger so I would assume its the same for 98. Try downloading it and putting it in that folder then go through the installation again.

I'd download the older version of messenger first from here http://www.bumpersoft.com/Internet/P..._694_index.htm then try updating it. It could be a compatibility issue with the new yahoo?

You need to put hijack this in its own folder in program files rather than the temp files.
