Red face create win2kpro btdsk on winxp ?

    Hi folks,

I have just wiped(DoD) my old SONY VAIO PCG-R600HEM notebook HDD,I'v now discoverd that i can not reinstall my windows 2k pro,due to the cd/dvd-rom driver not being detectable.
Can anyone tell me, if it's possible to create a win2kpro floppy bootdisk(s) with the original windows 2k pro cd-rom on a desktop pc running winxp home without causing any harm to the desktop ?.

I have tried winxp on the notebook, but as it only has 128MB of ram with only a possible 256MB maximum upgrade the vaio tends struggle to cope with much more than the xp O.S.
Look forward to any helpful advice.

    INTEL P3
    20g HDD
    128 SODIMM-SDRAM

    thanx guys. regards mark.

    Hi and welcome to D-A-L

    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=197063 gave me this

    Create Boot Disks
To create a set of Setup boot disks for Windows 2000, run the Makeboot.exe tool from the Bootdisk folder on the Windows 2000 CD-ROM:
    1. Insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
    2. Click Start, and then click Run.
    3. In the Open box, type drive:\bootdisk\makeboot a:, where drive is the letter of your CD-ROM drive, and then press ENTER.

if not have a look here
