    Cool GIF Icon(s) for WIN98SE

Looks like I have LOST some of my original Icons from my Win98SE OS. Of course the OS is a "Gateway Hybrid" disc. Anyone know where I can find or retreive the original icon styles? (My brian is too old to use new icons).

Open Windows Explorer or My Computer. Click on Tools in the Menu bar, then click on Folder Options. (Folder Options may also be under the menu bar VIEW tab.) Once in Folder Options, click on the View tab. Scroll down to Files and Folders. Under Hidden Files, set it to Show All Files and Not hide files for known extension types. Click OK then close Explorer or My Computer. This sets the changes. Reopen Windows Explorer or My Computer. Navigate to c:\windows. Look for a file named "shelliconcache" with no extension. Delete this file. Your icons should now "rebuild" themselves to their original state.

Post back with your results and any further questions.

    Dan,
Thank you very much for your assistance. You, and this group are so helpful. You/it fills a void in information seeking that is so difficult to search for alone. Usually impossible to find.

    Hi Dan,
Sorry so late in responding. Had some personal problems.....just getting back to here. Fact is, it didn't work. Makes me believe that my OS has seen better days. Its Win98se, seen through the eyes of "Gateway"...so who knows. I found out that when the OS was installed with the Gateway disc, a lot of stuff (like DLLS) were missing. So, guess all the PC Manuf. are like that. Have to play catch up through the life of the PC.
    Thanks again.....

Do you know why? Do you know what dll's are required?
