I accidentally set my screen resolution to 640 x 480 and now it is stuck in that position. I cannot make the slider move and I am becoming quite desperate. Please help as this is truly driving me crazy! Thanks in advance.

This isn't a reply. This is actually another question dealing with the identical problem. Where in ME do you find the device manager? I have kind of looked all over the Control Panel with no success. Thanks for your help!!!!

* You can open Device Manager by double-clicking on the System icon in Control Panel, and choosing the Device Manager tab. It is also accessible by right-clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties, and selecting the Device Manager tab. Getting to the Device Manager this can require up to six mouse clicks, but there is an easier way.
* Open an Explorer window, and select your Start Menu folder (under your Windows directory). It doesn't have to go here, but it's as good a place as any.
* Select New and then Shortcut from the File Menu.
* In the field labelled Command Line, type C:\WINDOWS\CONTROL.EXE Sysdm.cpl, System,1 (replace C:\WINDOWS\ with your Windows directory, if different).
* Click Next, type Device Manager for the name of this shortcut, and press Finish when you're done.
* There will now be a shortcut directly to Device Manager in your Start Menu.

Thank you. I can do that!
Now I need to know how to fix the screen resolution. I cannot move the "arrow" or whatever you call it to any setting. It is stuck in 640 x 480 and the color is stuck on "16 colors." Thank you in advance.
Did you try this:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...=en-us&m=1&p=1Reboot to Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
Remove ALL Display Adapters
Remove ALL Monitors
Reboot to Normal Mode - Windows will reinstall the required drivers -
hopefully curing your problem.

I followed the directions to the nth degree. Everything worked as you said. Windows restored the hardware as predicted and....guess what!....the resolution is still stuck! I hope somebody has some more suggestions for me!
My next try would be to reload your graphics drivers from the manufacturer.
Run this scan to ID the manufacturer:

Just another quick question:
That scan shows an onboard basic VGA. Indicating that you do not have a separate graphics card?
Or do you?
Also what is the make and model of the computer?
