Take a look at the tower to see if you have a model number on the front.

Perhaps something like: eTower 733i

Your graphics card is very limited:

We can search for drivers for that. Were you ever able to get a larger resolution on this machine?

Some others recommend going for the whole chipset driver rather than the graphics per se.

You might need to do some experimenting here.

We did have 800 x 600 resolution when we got this e-machine, but my husband wanted a "clearer" picture and started to play! This is the result. There's one thing I remembered earlier. Maybe I did this and not my husband. I was cleaning up the desktop and there was a shortcut to a bitmap image (whatever that is!) and I deleted it. Could that have had anything to do with what is going on? Also, I am not going to make you crazy with this. I will follow the link you sent and see where it takes me, but I really do not want you to lose any sleep over this one. Que sera, sera! and thank you for everything. I will let you know if it gets back to normal!

A .bmp or bitmap is a highly intense graphics format.

In general .jpg is a standard for photo images.

And this could definitely be an issue. You might want to start/search .bmp and delete any that you do not recognize/want.

Also I was crazy to begin with so what ever will be will be.

I would love to do this search but I have no idea how to do it! If you would be so kind as to explain, I am very good at taking instruction.
