    Any suggestions?

    Hello!
Erm well i recently upgraded my desktop pc from windows ME to Windows 2000 Pro, the installation appeared to be successful and booted up fine but after i entered in my password and username windows tries to log on but it just comes up the desktop wallpaper for a few seconds then flashes up "saving your settings" and goes back to the login window My password and username are correct and i even tried rebooting in safe mode to no avail. Just comes up a black screen with Safe mode around the corners. The pc was originally virus free(has been scanned with AVG norton spybot ect) before i upgraded and contained no adware spyware ect. I'm not aware of the actual amount of free space that was avaliable beforehand but i had just recently cleared out alot of junk so the memory should have been at least 3 quarters empty. I have the Windows 2K Pro installation disk would reinstalling it help? Heres the original system spec

    Model: Packard Bell iConnect 1300
    Microprocessor: Celeron 1300
RAM: 64MB RAM Dynamically shared with Graphics(DVMT) although this has been upgraded to 96MB
    Hard disk: 20GB 4400rpm

Absolutely any suggestions would be gratefully recieved because i am at the end of my tether with this machine!
    Thanks Lauryn

How did you install 2K? A Clean installation? Did you format the hard drive?

There is a history of issues moving from 98 or ME to 2K caused by residual drivers.

A Clean (full format) installation should take care of this.

64MB of RAM is the minimum requirement of 2K although more is recommended.

You just boot your 2K CD and follow the prompts to Clean Install.

If you have a 2K Upgrade version you will need the ME (or any other Windows) disk to qualify for Upgrade.

If the CD does not boot make sure that the BIOS is set to boot the CD drive prior to the hard disk drive.
