Windows 2000 hangs halfway while printing
Hi,
I have a Windows 2000 system with 256MB RAM and a HP PSC 1410 printer.
Whenever I try to print a large document in Excel or Word or print photos, the system hangs after printing the first page halfway through. Thogh I can print small single page documents very well without any issues. Can somebody plaese help?
Thanks.

Try printing on the lowest quality setting and see if that makes any difference. It may be that your printer doesn't have enough memory for good quality copies of the larger documents.
Also, try going to File > Print in Excel and Word and printing just a few pages of a large document, then a few more, then a few more, one after the other (you don't need to wait for each print to complete before sending the next pages). The Windows Print Spooler service should store up the print requests on the PC until the printer is ready to accept them.
Is this a problem that has only just started happening on this printer or have you never been able to successfully print large documents like this?
Is the printer plugged directly into the PC via a USB or parallel cable?

Hi DJNafey,
Thanks for your note. My printer is directly connected to the USB port of the system. I have brought the printer a few months back and have never been able to print any large documents. Even priniting individual pages of the large doc does not help. After printing one or two pages the system hangs. I guess there is size problem with either my system RAM or the printer RAM.
