For the last 2 weeks I've been getting the message "Your computer can not go on standby because a device driver or program won't allow it. Close all programs and start again." I do a warm boot to id and close open programs and I find two entries of "aolservicehost" open and one of them is designated "not responding." I close it but that doesn't help. My system info: AMIBIOS Ver 1.19 desktop rebuild, AMB-K6 (TM)-3D Processor. I'd appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks

It's been a long time since I dropped AOHell (6.x?, 7.x?) but,,,,
AOL is notorious for "possessing" core elements of your system. As an aside, here's some interesting info for your reading pleasure: http://langa.com/newsletters/2006/2006-02-13.htm (Bullet #4, with more info sub-link)
Are there any entries in your Start Up relating to AOL? (C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp)
If so, remove them. (You can Cut/Paste these Start Up entries to your Desktop for possible reinstatement if you don't like the results.)
You can "start" AOL by creating a shortcut to WAOL.exe (found in your C:\AOLxxxx folder) and placing that shortcut in a location of your choice.
You can also check for AOL startup entries in msconfig. (Start, Run, type in msconfig. Click on the Startup tab.) Remove the check mark for any related entries. Again, you can always replace the check mark if you don't like the results.
Post back with your findings/results.

Thanks for your suggestions. I removed an AOL referance titled "America Online 9.0 Tray Icon" from Startup and put it on my desktop. This didn't seem to have a positive or negative result so I left it that way. I unchecked the following AOL related items from msconfig:
AOLCC "C:\ Program Files\ AOL Computer Check-up\ ACCAgnt.exe" Startup
Host Manager C:\ Program Files\ Common Files\ AOL\ 1136483879\ ee\ AOL Host Manager.exe
AOL Dialer C:\ Program Files\ Common Files\ AOL\ ACS\ AOLDial.exe
AOLCC C:\ Program Files\ AOL Computer Check-up\ ACCAgnt.exe
AOLACS Daemon1 C:\ Program Files\ Common Files\ AOL\ ACS\ AOLACSD.exe
This resulted in Windows automatically opening in "Safe Mode" when shuting down and booting back up. It did not change my ability to shutdown to "Standby". I have rechecked the items in msconfig and am back operating as before. I am curious if any of these items might be more relevant than others to my problem. Do you have anymore suggestions?
It looks as though AOL is starting to act like cable ISP's, "always there/on, and creating system dependencies".
As I stated, I haven't used AOL in a long time so unfortunately I'm out of further suggestions. Plus it may be "structured" differently now, and not understanding this I don't want to suggest anything which may affect ISP and/or system operation.
Hopefully someone "up on AOL" strategies will pop by. I'll do some further research though (as time allows) to see what else I can come up with.
Have a look through Axcel216's Tips on 32 bit AOL and see if you come up with something, I'll do the same.
