Hi there,
I am running ME and When I start up everythiing is normal until it gets to the ME screen, from there nothing happens apart from the blue line at the bottom of the screen which keeps flashing across the screen as mormal. At start up if I press F5 I can get to the safe mode screen.
Can someone please help.

Hi David: First let me say that I am no computer wiz... BUT !... I have learned a few things... and one of them might help, and I'm pretty sure it can't hurt. Try this... Bring up the computer in safe mode(I do this on my ME system by turning on the computer, and immediately "TAPPING" on the F8 key... Black screen appears... Use down arrow key to choose safe mode... Press ENTER... Let the computer bring up the safe mode desk top... Click on START, then choose SHUT DOWN... If you have no cursor at all, hold down the control key and press either "Esc" or the "Windows symbol" key. This brings up the "Start" Menu... Then use "up" arrow to "shutdown"... Then press "enter"...Then if it says "shut down" in the little window in the center of the screen, hit "enter"... If it says something else, use the arrow keys to change it to "shut down" then hit "enter" again... This should shut down your computer. You must follow this same protocol at LEAST TWO more times to a COMPLETE shutdown wait 30 seconds before pushing the "on" button each time ... This may seem odd, but it has saved MY computer many times... You may want to first do a "disk cleanup" when FIRST entering safe mode (if you haven't lately), using the "arrow" and "enter" keys, similarly, to accomplish this. THEN do the "shutdown" routines... Good luck ... I can't gaurantee, however, that this will solve YOUR particular problem... BTW... When first bringing up your computer in safe mode, it may need to go through the ole "Scan Disk" routine first, if you have had to do an instant OFF type of shut down...
